Many new inventions come to fruition when fresh-minded people meet individuals with artistic visions and requirements to pursue them, which are hard, if not impossible, to realize. As a blind musician and field recordist with constraints when it comes to ergonomical and accessible recording gear, I needed a secure way to pack my recording equipment. My equipment includes multiple Olympus LS-100 recorders and a tripod for each of them, and I carry several when I am going on major expeditions and excursions or when I want to simply record a music show or artistic installation live. Here, you see the solution before you. I was lucky enough to meet Anastasia Statsenko, who was seeking a project for her DCART498 design course at Concordia University, and, having found out about my situation, made me a specially designed backpack where I can pack recording gear safely and soundly. Until recently, I was walking to my recording trips with tripods sticking out of my backpack, thereby risking collision with objects and something falling from the bag. Since this needs-driven solution came into being, I don’t have to worry anymore about those scenarios. Hello comfort, hello security! Similarly, this website came into existence thanks to equally excellent designers Alexander Mackinnon and Mollika Chakraborty as a project of the same course. Their goal was to meet my need for a website that is accessible, maintainable, and free of clutter. It used to take me an astronomical amount of time to sift with my screen reader through lots of irrelevant information just to do minimal promotion and content creation. Not anymore; Mollika and Alexander have essentially given me an artistic lifeline whereby I can share my world of creative music and explorations of nature with you all. A big thank you to all three designers who have made my artistic life a whole lot easier.
